Friday Night Ceilidh

7:30 pm - 10:30pm, November 2, 2007

Fairhaven Middle School, 110 Parkridge Rd.

Admission (US/CAN):  Adults $7.00/8.00,  Students $5.00/5.50,  Children under 6 are free.

 

Music by: Mary Ross (Victoria, British Columbia)

 

All dancers are welcome to our Ceilidh on Friday night to warm up for the weekend.  For Scottish country dancers there will be old favorites such as Let’s Have a Ceilidh, Rest and Be Thankful, and De’il Amang the Tailors.  For the public and newer dancers, there will be a selection of mixers and standard dances such as Flowers of Edinburgh, Borrowdale Exchange, Progressive Gay Gordons, and the White Cockade.

Late Update: Elaine Brunken, originally scheduled to teach levels 3 and 4, has injured her leg and has been told she cannot travel. Levels 3 and 4 will have combined classes at the Eagles Hall.

 

Level 1: For dancers who are acquiring a knowledge of steps and basic formations. 

Taught by Rosemary Coupe (Burnaby, BC).

Musical Accompaniment by Julie Smith.

Held at the Fairhaven Middle School Gymnasium, 110 Parkridge Rd.

 

Level 2:  For dancers who have a knowledge of steps and basic formations and who can dance a dance comfortably after walking through from each position. 

Taught byDavid Newitt (Oakland, CA); and Mairi Hand (Boise, ID).

Musical Accompaniment by Brian Crisafulli.

Held at the Fairhaven Middle School Gymnasium, 110 Parkridge Rd.

 

Levels 3 and 4:  For experienced dancers who have been introduced to more advanced formations, can dance with good phrasing, teamwork, deportment and use of hands, and can dance a dance after walking through from one position.

Taught by: Mairi Hand (Boise, ID) and David Newitt (Oakland, CA).

Musical Accompaniment by  Lisa Scott.

Held at the Eagles Hall, 1125 N Forest St.

 

If you are unsure, please ask your own teacher which level is best for you.  If necessary, dancers may be relocated from one level to another at the discretion of the teachers.

Silent Auction

Come early and be sure to browse the Silent Auction tables before the Ball.  The Auction will start at 7:00pm and will close after the Intermission as announced.  Winners will be announced before the end of The Ball.   Winners must be present to win!
